ACROSS THE BLUE DIVIDE
No one said it would be easy
Everyone said it would be fun
But hurt chokes like a bone in my throat
When the day is done
Coyotes come scratchin’
Right up next to the door
They call for me, they come for you
I know what they’re hungry for
And I’ll see you again
Beyond that breach so wide
Yes, and I’ll see you again, my friend
Across the blue divide
The years fly by like weekends
The hours spill like wine
Tomorrow’s just another day
And that’s when I’ll have time
But time is just an illusion
It can never be replaced
Truth an intrusion
That sometimes must be faced
And I’ll see you again
Beyond that breach so wide
Yes, and I’ll see you again, my friend
Across the blue divide
So go to sleep my little darlin’
Rest your bones, my weary one
You gave us all too much joy
And now your ride has come
There’s a cactus on the horizon
A rabbit on the run
I’ll dream of you as you dream of me
In the warmth of a rising sun
And I’ll see you again
Beyond that breach so wide
Yes, and I’ll see you again, my friend
Across the blue divide
